As we head into fall, this passage from Chapter 17 really jumped out at me. I loved the imagery it created!
And just at that second, the wind picked up, and thousands upon thousands of yellow sycamore leaves broke from their life support and streamed across the sky. Autumn leaves don't fall; they fly. They take their time and wander on this, their only chance to soar. Reflecting sunlight, they swirled and sailed and flattered on the wind drafts.

I personally love fall foliage time when the leaves change to such vibrant colors!
So far, Jumpin' and Mabel are my favorite characters in this book. I love how Jumpin' and Mabel look out for Kya and make sure she's got the supplies she needs to survive. I would have included Tate in there because I loved that he took time to teach her to read and how they came to care for one another, but he became a chickenshit when he abandoned her so I left him off.
That's all I have for this edition. I did get excited when I put the bookmark in after reading Chapter 24, closed the book and realized I was halfway through. Gotta try and finish it by Friday (October 8) when I need to return it. I will renew it if I'm not close enough by Wednesday. I just hope I can get it done. I have a couple ARCs coming up that I need to read and review this month.
