April was a horrible month for me, health-wise. I was sick for at least half of the month with a combination of cold and allergies; possibly COVID, but none of the tests I took came back positive. The only reason I think I had COVID was because when I finally started feeling better, my dad tested positive for COVID and he had the same nasty cough that I had when I was sick! Being sick caused me to not only get behind in my reading, but also in my blog posts.
Since I never did a Book Boyfriend of the Month for April, I am combining April and May into one post.
April Book Boyfriend of the Month
Looking back at the books I read during April, I don't know if I will be able to choose which boyfriend was my favorite. I think I can narrow it down to two:
- Colton Westbrook from One Little Kiss by Avery Maxwell. (You can read my review of the book here.) Why did I choose him? He's the comic relief of the family and everyone calls him (Peter) Pan because no one, including himself, takes him serious... until one night in an airport when he meets Winnie, and his whole life is turned upside down. I just loved how hard he fell for Winnie during that airport scene, how devastated he was afterwards, how he dropped everything to go to her when he found out where she lived, and how he cared for Winnie's little brother.
- Dexter Munro, the Duke of Markham, from Tracy Sumner's The Ice Duchess. Why did I choose him? I'm a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers story and I also love the second chance trope. You can read further about why I loved this story in my review, here.
May Book Boyfriend of the Month
This month's book boyfriend of the month belongs to Caleb Stockton. There were MANY eligible candidates during this month but Caleb really stole my heart in his book. If you don't know the book I am talking about, his story is told in A Real Cowboy Always Comes Home. It is the tenth book in Stephanie Rowe's Wyoming Rebels series, but you do not need to read the other books to understand this one. You may want to after you read the book though, because it's just an incredible series of a band of brothers who had a shit upbringing, separated for a time and slowly made their way back home where they band back together and protect the ones they love.
Congratulations to Caleb, Dexter and Colton for winning this prestigious award! Come back next month to find out who is our June Book Boyfriend of the Month!
