““Don’t settle,” he said. “Every woman deserves a man who loves her like crazy. Who can’t imagine his life without her. That guy’s out there, trust me. Wait for him, okay? Don’t settle for anything less than a man who loves the fuck out of you. Promise?””
BLURB:
Dating can be tricky, but how hard can it be to find the right guy? Or even just a normal guy?
For Everly Dalton, it's a bit like trying to walk in stilettos - while drunk, blindfolded, and wearing the wrong size shoes. She hasn't exactly been lucky in love. In fact, she just might be cursed.
A guy who only dates lookalikes of his ex? Pass. An alpha-male businessman who bolts in a moment of crisis? No, thanks. A date that turns into the creepiest interview in the history of ever? Where does she find these guys?
Join Everly as she dishes to her friends about the surprising, unpredictable, and sometimes crazy adventure that is modern dating. Will she keep matching with frogs or find her Prince Charming?
MY REVIEW:
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters is a funny and interesting tale of Everly Dalton’s attempt at a dating life. Who is Everly Dalton? She is one-third of a group that’s been dubbed as the Dirty Martini Running Club due to the group’s penchant for drinking dirty martinis when they get together.
In this book, which was initially written as six episodes in Claire Kingsley’s weekly newsletter, each chapter/episode features a different dating disaster that Everly has gone on and is retelling her friends Nora and Hazel (the other two-thirds of the Dirty Martini Running Club.)
I’ve been a fan of Claire Kingsley for a while now and I really love her writing style. This book in particular, I thought the transition from present to past and then back to present was flawless and the breaks in between felt like those fade to black moments that happen in TV shows and movies.
Some of the dates that Everly went on were completely hysterical from start to finish. Some dates were creeps and some were just plain weird. I think out of all her dating disasters, the one date I sympathized with the most was Preston. It will be interesting to see if any of Everly’s dates make a reappearance in this series or in any other of Claire’s series that she has written.
Interestingly enough, the next book in this series, Faking Ms. Right, Everly is once again the heroine. Did she meet her hero amongst her dating disasters or will she finally meet him in Faking Ms. Right?
I give this story a 5 out of 5. As I mentioned before, the story was fun and interesting; it had me laughing throughout the book and I thought the characters were really fleshed out! I can’t wait to read more about Everly, Nora and Hazel.
