Review: Flawless (Chestnut Springs, #1)

TITLE: Flawless
AUTHOR: Elsie Silver
SERIES: Chestnut Springs
SERIES ORDER: 1
PUBLISHED: 6/24/2022
GENRE: Cowboy Romance
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
CW/TW:
Rhett is a professional bull rider and while it’s a thrilling sport, it’s also pretty dangerous should the bull rider end up being thrown from the bull without protective gear, and/or be hit or impaled by the bull’s hooves or horns. One scene in this book is of a bull rider being thrown off his bull without a helmet, and the bull charging him while he’s lying on the ground.

BLURB:

The rules were simple. Keep my hands off his daughter and stay out of trouble.

But now I’m stuck with her. There’s only one bed. And well, rules are made to be broken.

I’m the face of professional bull riding—the golden boy. Or at least I was, until it all blew up in my face. Now my agent says I have to clean up my image, so I’m stuck with his ball-busting daughter for the rest of the season as my “full-time supervision.”

But I don’t need a goddamn babysitter, especially one with skin-tight jeans, a sexy smirk, and a mouth she can’t stop running.

A mouth I can’t stop thinking about.

Because Summer isn’t just another conquest. She sees the man behind the mask, and she doesn’t run—she pulls me closer, even when she shouldn’t.

She says this means nothing.

I say this means everything.

She says there are boundaries we shouldn’t cross. That my reputation can’t take any more hits—and neither can her damaged heart.

I say I’m going to steal it anyway.

MY REVIEW:

Rhett and Summer’s love story was a fantastic read! I absolutely loved their story!

Rhett and Summer both struggle with the feeling of never being good enough. For Rhett, his family never took his passion for bull riding seriously, and so he constantly pushed himself to win another championship; even when his body couldn’t handle it. For Summer, after a traumatic childhood, she puts aside her hopes and dreams to follow in her father’s footsteps as a way to repay him for always being there.

Rhett and Summer meet when Kip, Summer’s dad and Rhett’s agent, sends her to “babysit” him after a comment made between bull riders is made public, and causes a PR nightmare. At first, Rhett dislikes Summer, and does everything to ignore her. But that becomes harder to do when his family falls in love with her, and when Summer recognizes and acknowledges why Rhett loves what he does. I loved watching Rhett and Summer fall in love and how they pined after one another until they eventually gave in! (So hot!!)

In addition to Rhett and Summer, I absolutely loved the side characters; especially Kip, Harvey (Rhett’s dad), Cade (Rhett’s brother), Luke (Cade’s son), Beau (Rhett’s brother), and Willa (Summer’s friend.)

The text messages were absolutely hysterical and made me snort laugh while reading! I absolutely loved the bond that Rhett had with his family, and I loved how they accepted Summer into their circle! I also loved the bond that Summer had with her dad! I can’t wait to read Cade’s story next! Based off of what I saw of Cade in this book, and the teaser we got at the end of the book, I think we’re headed for another grumpy sunshine trope with Cade and his HEA!
