Happy Halloween!! Welcome to another edition of Monday Musings where I talk about anything and everything, book-related and non-book related. You’ll find today’s topics in the Blog Title. If you have any feedback you’d like to share regarding this blog post, please feel free to comment on this post or email me to at jessiesreadingcorner@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you think!
TOM BRADY
I used to admire this man’s work ethic and ability to still play professional football at 40 years old. Now, I hold nothing but contempt for him. I don’t know about you, but his selfish arrogance is not only dissolving his marriage, but also staining his legacy. (Bucs have lost their last three games, and Tom’s thrown an tantrum twice so far!)
Tom had a choice after last season, and he chose to retire so that his wife could focus on revamping her career while he became the stay at home parent. A couple months later, he decided to unretire; which at the time wasn’t surprising considering he’s the GOAT and other players have unretired too. The problem is that he made a commitment to his wife, and then broke it because he felt he wasn’t done playing football. Why the f did he retire then?! I know there was speculation that he wanted to play in San Fran and some deal was supposed to happen while he was retired, but then San Fran went and got Trey Lance in the draft. Media reports started circulating soon after the current season started that Gisele wasn’t happy and then they both hired divorce lawyers. I really hope they can work out their problems without going the divorce route because, while I think Tom is a scumbag for choosing football over family, I feel even worse for his kids who are watching their parents’ marriage dissolve right in front of them.
DRIVING WOES
Anyone else sick of driving? I’m a Jersey girl, I drive aggressively and have been known to drive with a lead foot. I cannot stand the people that drive under the speed limit, drive slower than the speed of traffic, use turning/merging lanes to get in front of you when there’s no one behind you, and jam up intersections because their destination is more important than yours. Lately, this is an every day occurrence and I’m sick to death of it! I’m either going to or from an 8 hour workday, and I just want to get to my destination! Is that too much to ask for?!
JOB WOES
It’s almost been a year since I’ve been with my current company, and I think I might be ready to move on already. I’m really enjoying the work I do and it’s definitely what I want to do for a career, but I’m finding it hard to support a company that doesn’t support their employees. Pretty much everyone I know and have talked to at the company have either left or are looking for another job. I can’t tell you how many people have already left the company, and that’s the people that I know of! Communication is non-existent, the morale is incredibly low, the pay is subpar, raises haven’t been given out in five years, and fun within the office is typically discouraged; though they allow us to dress down on Fridays. The CEO brings his dog/puppy in with him and leaves her in his office while he spends almost all day in meetings. While I love dogs, the constant barking and whining from this dog makes it difficult to concentrate on the tasks at hand. The CEO temporarily solves this by either moving the dog to another room and/or asking someone else to babysit the dog for him.
So yeah, right now I’m updating my resume and weighing the pros and cons of staying with the company.
