ABOUT THE BOOK
BLURB:
June aka Quick Claw
I want revenge. It’s been fifteen years since a home invasion changed everything. But I’m Quick Claw now, and everything I’ve trained for has led to tonight—to making the two men who broke into my apartment suffer. That is, until my moment is stolen by Black Coyote, the city’s infamous vigilante.
An error on his part, he makes me a deal—what if we help each other?
Nikolai needs a female to help with undercover roles, and I need to track down my intruders again. Win-win. And while I’m still upset my original plan fails, I don’t expect the security and comfort I feel around Nikolai…or how attractive he is. I’ve spent my life working towards justice, but suddenly, revenge isn’t the only thing on my mind…
Nikolai aka Black Coyote
I need to stop an arms-dealer from polluting my city. Fighting crime as Black Coyote, I lead a small team to assist in protecting the citizens of Perish. But I don’t always get it right. Because when I end up saving a woman who isn’t in danger, I discover it’s Quick Claw, the female vigilante from the news.
Feeling guilty, I offer an exchange of services: my assistance for hers.
At first it works, but I don’t expect the reality of June—or how she makes me feel. So, when an impulsive decision exposes a high importance mission, I know I’ve fucked up. To make matters worse, a ghost from my past returns, throwing everything into chaos, and sending June and I down a path I’m not sure we can return from.

MY REVIEW:
DISCLAIMER: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I read this book as part of a Book Tour with Romance Me With Books.
As someone who loves the comic universes that have been shown in movie theaters and TV screens over the past couple of years, reading this book was a lot of fun. It had the danger and excitement that comes with a group of “superheroes” (or in this case, vigilantes) who try to protect their city from criminals, as well as the romance and spice that I’ve come to love from reading romance novels.
Michelle “June“ Johnson (aka Quick Claw) and Nikolai Wyatt (aka Black Coyote) are both vigilantes that are trying to protect the city that they love. They meet when June’s efforts of revenge are sabotaged by Nikolai, who thinks that June needs rescuing. They agree to help each other out, and soon June and Nikolai are spending quality amounts of time together; fighting crime and falling in love.
Nikolai stole my heart in this story. He was so cute with his denial of his feelings for June, how he kept getting tongue tied around her, and yet whenever someone touched her, he would snap. I also loved that he kept his promise to her about staying out of the way when she went for her revenge, but stayed with her for support. I loved how Nikolai and June teamed up on missions. Instead of one person doing most of the work, they were both equals. I loved the addition of Nikolai’s team (Michael, Kato and Luis.) Kato and June’s friend, Iris, were the comedic relief in this book and I could feel the tension between them when they were in the room together. I am looking forward to reading their short story that C.G. has made available through her newsletter.
I loved how the action really ramped up in the second half of this book. While I believe June and Nikolai had a HFN ending, the overall story doesn’t seem like it’s over. I’d be interested to see where C.G. takes this series should she continue writing in it.
Thank you to Amy from Romance Me With Books for providing me with an advance copy.
