His fire made the spark inside of me want to jump to life. To burn. But I was afraid it would turn me to ash and I’d blow away in the wind.
— His Heart (Claire Kingsley)

BLURB:

Her greatest tragedy is his second chance at life.

For Sebastian McKinney, wrestling is life. He’s focused and determined. Strong and capable. Nothing, not even his biggest rival, will stand in his way.

Except a silent illness that almost kills him.

Brooke Summerlin is no stranger to adversity. Raised by an abusive mother, she’s learned to cope as best she can. When Liam sweeps into her life, she believes she’s found the impossible—a happily ever after.

Until her happy ending is ripped away. And Brooke’s greatest tragedy becomes Sebastian’s second chance at life.

Four years later, two souls linked by loss find each other. Although their connection is undeniable, Brooke sinks in grief that threatens to drown her. Sebastian is desperate to help—desperate to save her—even though he has his own uncertainties to face.

But sometimes love transcends the boundaries between life and death—between what is known and what cannot be explained. The heart that loved Brooke still beats for her.

And the one thing that might save them both is love.

MY REVIEW:

This is another phenomenal story by Claire Kingsley! It’s not your typical romance in that the main characters don’t meet until Chapter 16 but believe me, the wait is worth it; albeit a little emotional! I loved Sebastian and Brooke. At times I wanted to shake Brooke for some of the decisions she made but overall I thought she was a great character/compliment to Sebastian. I hurt for them as they went through their individual trials and then I swooned when they came together. I really loved that Sebastian never gave up on Brooke. I loved that he gave her space when she needed it but wasn’t afraid to dish out tough love either. Definitely recommend reading with book. And if you haven’t read Claire before, you need to!

Also, this book made me think of the movie Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny.
