MY REVIEW:
Serial Love is my first foray into the world of Maryann Jordan and I’m kicking myself for waiting so long. I originally bought this book (I don’t remember when) but it was because a.) I wanted a Maryann Jordan book in my library and b.) Kris Zizzo is hot!
After years in the Special Forces, Jack Bryant has decided to open up his own protection business in the private sector. He’s bought himself (and his team) a house in the Blue Ridge Mountains where they can meet and not be discovered. They take on cases that the government doesn’t want to get their hands dirty with, but they will take the credit when all is said and done. Their latest case puts them on the trail of a serial killer who is targeting female college students.
Bethany helps run her grandparents’ cabin resort that backs up into Jack’s property. Their worlds collide when Bethany’s grandmother wanders off and trespasses onto his land. Their chemistry immediately takes off but Jack is hesitant to start a relationship due to his job. However, the more time he spends getting to know Bethany and Ann (Bethany’s grandmother), the more he realizes how stupid that reasoning is.
I really enjoyed this story. I loved Jack and Bethany’s chemistry and how passionate their relationship became, once Jack got over his fear. (Porch scene, 🔥!) I loved Jack’s relationship with his team, and I can’t wait to read the rest of their stories! My heart broke for Bethany during this story and I loved that Jack was there for her through most of it.
Aside from their love story, the case really pulled me in! At first, I was unsure how graphic the scenes would be. but a friend recommended I stick with it, so I did and it was so worth it! I loved how Maryann kept me guessing as to who the unsub could be and I was definitely surprised at the end.
